Clara At The Door With A Revolver (My First Musical!)

Yes! I’m writing a musical! I’ve been dreaming about this for many years so when the opportunity came along to go on a journey with a Book writer Susan Wokoma, Director Jane Moriarty and Producer Danielle Manson, I grabbed it with both hands and haven’t looked back.

The musical is called Clara at the Door with a Revolver and it’s an inspiring true crime story, adapted from a book of the same title. It’s murder mystery meets courtroom drama, with a complex protagonist who goes on one hell of a hero’s journey.

Since the audition process in November, we decided to throw our hats in the ring for a showcase for new musicals held annually at the Birmingham Hippodrome called BEAM. From 350 applicants, 28 were chosen and we’re delighted to be among them!

It’s a two day industry event that shines a spotlight on the most exciting new musicals being created today, from which we’re hoping to secure a larger scale production & theatre partner to continue developing the work into a full length musical.

Our pitch is a 25 minute slot with a cast of 3 and a small band (including myself) on Day 2 of the showcase – Friday 16th May at 11am at the Birmingham Hippodrome. For more info and tickets, head HERE.
