A Very Good Friday

So once again, I have been moved by the way in which a song has a life of its own. ‘Ain’t I A Woman?’ and ‘Black Panther’ have taken me on journeys around the world, and now ‘Rise Up’ has joined the ranks. On Good Friday this year, I was invited by the Southbank Centre to share the song in the Royal Festival Hall accompanied by 450 young voices. EPIC!! The incredible Sam Coates composed a stellar arrangement and off we went! All singing our lungs out to the tune of hope and freedom. I was so so humbled, not just by the show but the rehearsal process, talking with some of the young people afterwards. Seriously, the power of music is quite amazing!

And to top it off, there’s nothing like a lovely review. http://www.bluesandsoul.com/live_item/314/a_very_good_friday_ft_ayanna_witter-johnson_royal_festival_hall_london_3415/

Thank you to everyone who took part, attended, gave their support. Rising up, I shall be! x

This was an epic performance. I took my daughter and she thoroughly enjoyed herself.

We both can’t wait for Rise Up on the new album!
